Deepavali, the festival of lights falls on 21st October. The word “Deepavali”-Deepa meaning Light and Avali meaning row,so its row of light.Lakshmi (goddess of wealth and prosperity) pooja is observed in every household and new businesses are commenced, people exchange sweets among friends and families. They decorate their house with beautiful rangoli and make awesome floral decorations and people wake up early in the morning have oil bath and burst crackers…his festival is celebrated on grand scale in almost all regions in India.
Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore has so aptly put forth the true significance of Diwali in these beautiful lines:
“The night is black Kindle the lamp of LOVE With thy life and devotion.”
Diwali in Coimbatore is full of fun and frolic and the shops are buzzed with people. It will be lovely just to cruise in the floating crowd and see the happy and excited faces.Almost all the shops are illuminated and Coimbatore is hosting people from Tirupur, Pollachi, Palladam,Ooty,Mettupalayam who come to Coimbatore to do their Deepavali shopping. All the shops have great Deepavali discounts and people are very much attracted towards discounts.
Another Deepavali attraction is new movie release and bursting crackers…In my colony there is heavy competion for bursting crackers.Usually i get up around 3:30Am and then the competion among neighbours start as soon as the day light hits and finally end after 3 hrs.But to face the reality today crackers price are pumped up and people buy few crackers…inspite of that Diwali is the best of all festivals…
Coimbatorians have a great fun filled deepavali..
“Wish u all a very happy Deepavali”
