A tight security cover would be put in place for the two-day visit of President A P J Abdul Kalam to the city from December 18.
The President would attend two functions in Erode district and arrive at Coimbatore by helicopter in the afternoon of December 18 and attend some functions.
He would be the chief guest at the valedictory function of the CIT golden jubilee celebrations, which would be presided over by Union Minister for Human Resource development Arjun Singh.
Kalam would address a literary meet at Kalai Arangam, attend a function at Avanashilingam Deemed University and stay here in the night.
On December 19, the President would participate in an interactive session, organised by Young Indians and CII Coimbatore chapter, at CODISSIA Trade Fair complex and address students of the Nachimuthu Polytechnic College at nearby Pollachi.
He would leave by air for Thrissur in Kerala in the afternoon, sources said.
The special branch (security) officers of Tamil Nadu police from Chennai reviewed the security arrangements last evening.
Meanwhile, district police have brought all Internet cafes under their scanner in the wake of the recent e-mail threats. (Agencies)
