With more graduates of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) having successfully cleared the Civil Services and Forest Service examinations, the Directorate of Students Welfare (DSW) is aiming to further equip the facilities on par with prime coaching centres in New Delhi.
Despite a tough competition, 16 of the TNAU graduates have successfully cleared the examinations, which constituted over 50 per cent of the total candidates who cleared the exam from Tamil Nadu in 2006, Dr M Thangaraju, director, DSW, said.
The number of TNAU graduates who cleared civil services were 20, 24 and 16 in 2004, 2005 and 2006 respectively and the comprehensive curriculum, motivated teachers and hard work of students were primarily associated with the resounding success at the national-level competitive examinations, he claimed.
The directorate is taking keen interest to motivate students to opt for civil services besides outsourcing professors from various institutions to accomplish the task. It has taken efforts to enrich its library with reading materials for quick reference by the registered students, Thangaraju said.
Besides, mock tests being conducted at the beginning, middle and end of the courses to assess the progress of preparation for the civil service examination, the Students can also evaluate their performance using interactive CD-ROMs that have been supplied by DSW
