The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on Thursday announced two tariff plans at Rs. 360 and Rs. 975 for basic phone (landline) users.
Customers could apply for new connections under these plans and get waiver on installation charges. Existing subscribers could migrate to new plans giving a request. The enrolment under these plans (300 free calls for Rs. 360 and 1,025 free calls for Rs. 975) would be open till July 16, the PGM added. The requests could be handed over to any of the customer service centres of BSNL. The scheme was available only in Coimbatore and Tirupur urban exchanges.
The Advance Rental Deposit (ADR) for the connections under the new plans had been slashed to Rs. 1,000 (for local plus calls to 95 level and STD). Otherwise, the ADR had been brought down to Rs. 1,000, 2,000 and Rs. 3,000 for basic phones with local, STD and ISD facility . The slashed ADR would be valid only up to March 31, 2005.
To avoid long queues at the customer service counter at the PGM Office on Bharathi Park Road, the BSNL had installed a Touch Screen Cheque Depositing System with duplicate bill issuing facility worth Rs. 2 lakhs.
Customers can use this kiosk to deposit their MICR and non-MICR cheques up to pay-by-date, which on reading the cheque would issue a receipt. The same machine could be used for getting a duplicate bill from 9.30 a.m. to 3.30
