‘Indian’ Employees back to work

After almost three days of high drama on the ground which led to a disruption in services in the skies, employees of ‘Indian’ on Thursday called off their strike. The employees of the state-owned carrier called off their stir after three-hour long deliberations between the airline management, the agitating employees and the Civil Aviation Ministry.

Civil Aviation Secretary Ashok Chawla said the issues are being amicably settled.Around 13,000 employees of the airline had gone on a flash strike on Tuesday night demanding parity in promotions with Air India and wage arrears. The strike caused chaos at all major airports across the country as a large number of flights were cancelled or delayed for the past two days.

“The flight operations will come to normal within a few hours,” Chawla further said.Earlier, on Wednesday the Delhi High Court held the strike by ‘Indian’ employees as “prime facie illegal” and asked them to resume duty at the earliest in the interest of air travellers.
