Anna University plans to create a database of the students and post it on its website, R.Radhakrishnan, Vice Chancellor, said here on Friday. Inaugurating a national conference on “Enhancing Information Technology with Mathematics,” at the D.J.Academy for Managerial Excellence, he said that industries looking for specific skills could locate suitable manpower through this arrangement.The facility would be made available on the university’s website soon, he added. The university was also going to make it mandatory for UG engineering students to apply for two diplomas in the course of their degree.He noted that the industries did not extend the necessary support to educational institutions in terms of research.
The industry could work along with the institutions and in the process identify talents among the student community, which could be utilised by them, he added.He also said that even though software companies were recruiting students every year, a large number of students were also being rejected.This was because the colleges did not train students in the skills required by the industry.
