Tirupur Exporters’ Association (TEA) today hailed the railway budget proposals for reduction of passenger fares in all classes and reduction and concessions given in freight rate.
In a statement, TEA President, A Shaktivel appreciated the measures planned for improvement in ticketing services and other amenities in the coaches. Establishment of 48 new containers depot and private investments for loading in terminal will help increase the investment in Railway infrastructure, which is the need of the hour, he said.
While welcoming the introduction of nine new trains to Tamil Nadu,he expressed regret that the budget has failed to introduce new train services from Coimbatore. The requisition for introduction of night trains to Bangalore has not been considered in the railway budget, Shaktivelu said adding the new Trivandrum-Amritsar train should connect Coimbatore for the benefit of the public.
