  1. Really happy to see our city is growing….

  2. Everything is ok. But what about vehicle trafic ? and car parking . Coimbatore Corporation must take care about this matter.

    • thats true.. even there are no much fly overs in cbe tats make traffic worst…

      • Coimbatore Railway Network Has a Unique Geography to Convert into a Circular Suburban Railway Cum Regular Express Track Along with 4 Suburban Routes1. Palakkad Town-Shornur Link, 2.Pollachi-UdumalPettai-Palani-Didukkal, 3.Tiruppur-Erode-Karur/Namakkal/Salem, 4. Mettupalayam-Sathyamagalam( for Extension).Irugur- Pothanur Doubling Electrification can used for the Benefit of Coimbatore by converting Irugur-Pothanur Line as a Part of Coimbatore Suburban Circular railway, Change the route of Nilagiri, Cheran, Kovai & Other trains thru Irugur-Pothanur-Coimbatore route this will need a small Railway bit connection near Nanjupuram which will convert Nanjudapuram as a turning point circular railways tract. This will avoid delay of shutting in Coimbatore JN train can entry from one route and exit thru North Peelamedu route. That is Certain trains will travel Clockwise- Certain train anticlockwise this will improve efficiency & speed, All the trains proceeding to Kerala will have to touch Coimbatore Junction under this circular railway & trains originating from Coimbatore will use both Irugur-Coimbatore & Irugur-Pothanur Lines, Once doubling & Electrification is completed Irugur Pothanur Line can be used as Suburban Circular railway which will help Local people, New station can be built every 3 Km distance & Suburban trains can be operated Eg Kolkata, The circular railway line will help run through Coimbatore Junction, Podanur, Vellalore, Irugur, Singanallur, Peelamedu and Coimbatore North. Apart Regular suburban services can be started to Palakkad town, Shornur, Guruvayoor, Thrissur, Coimbatore-Salem, Coimbatore-Erode-Tirupur, Coimbatore-Pollachi-Udumalpet-Dindugal, Mettupalayam-Palani-Dindukal. Additional Line can be achieved by renew the old line between CoimbatoreJn-Vellalalore-Irugur, Even More trains can be operated in Nilagiri Mountain railway & additional line between conoor & ooty broad gauges with eletrification will reduce pollution since this line does not have problem of rain or wild animals, The mettupalayam line can be further extended to Sathya mangalam later to Chamraj Nagar via tunnel instead of forest which will reduce the distance between coimbatore- Bangalore by 60-100Km, this will help to reduce the congestion on the main railway line via Salem & pollution in Both the hill roads Via Ooty & Sathyamangalam Parallel Road tunnels can be constructed in lines with Pune-Mumbai Express Highway by tunnel. Since Modern state of art Tunnel Boring Machine are available the will be less use of explosives-Pollution or damage to pristine forest, Toll collected from train & road Passenger will take care of the expenses. Hope this has to be given an integrated approach will develop all the three states Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka.

  3. While we are very happy to see the developments taking place in our city, it is high time that infrastructure/logistics tasks are carried out on a war footing. Roads are already choking now. Good roads, multiple fly overs, good transportation system such as metro/mono rail, good water system, green city, good underground drainage, good telecommunication/broadband connectivity across the city (before the roads/developments take place – so that no digging is needed later), hi-tech (computerised) public utilities (BSNL, EB, BUS SERVICE, etc.) should take place on a war footing. The infrstructure should be planned/implemented keeping in mind the developments that will take place in the next 50-100 years and not looking at the current requirements alone. And it should be ensured that the beauty/calmness of this city should be maintained through all these developments.

  4. Are these development actvities real or just for show off?. Because infrastructure in coimbatore is in very bad shape. No one thinks about it. A Subway in Gandhipuram signal has been in talks level for more than two decades.Airport modernisation and runway expansion is in talks level fora decade. No need to say railway projects, North coimbatore – Irugur doubling line work is dragging for past ten years. Railways in coimbatore is misused by selfish Kerala officers for long long time.
So all these developments are virtual until infrastructure in coimbatore is improved.

    • Hi friend, could you please explain me in details who is that kerala officer, because I heard about one project of developing coimbatore railway station, that project was handled by one kerala officer, I would like to have your guidance to follow through.

  5. Hi
10 years before, even Pune also like that of Coimbatore, Now u cant compare pune with Coimbatore, Maharastra government transformed that small city into vibrant city today,But here there is no intiatives from state government for the develoment of coimbatore,Pune is having 5 Car Units(tatas,Benz,GM,etc..) & see the development in IT sector ,it had crossed 10000 Crores in IT exports . Even after that ,if government is not taking any steps in infrastructure by decongesting the Roads, This is the Right time that government can plan for metro Rail System ,that will bring huge investments in to the city,Allow foreign airlines to start Linking with international destination, that will bring Business visitors,Tourists, etc….But I dont know when this will happen.

  6. The News is good to hear. There is no politics supports like Madurai so Present Government have neglement in Budget to develop Infrastructure.

  7. tousday i will come teir please give me parsanal darashan ticket for the five people

    thinking you

  8. I am very happy to see that the city of coimbatore is developing rapidly. But it still needs a lot of backing. One of the key factors is its infrastructure. More foreign companies and more tourists would tend to come if its infrastructure is good.
The other things that the city should improve upon is underground drainage system, pollution, traffic rules and regulations, car parking facilities, airport modernization, allowing more foreign airlines, improvement and widening of roads and cleanliness in the city.
When I was in Singapore I could see a lot of colorful plants and trees planted on either side of the road and in the middle, in every nook and corner of the city. I wish I could see this in Coimbatore too which would really make the city more attractive and appealing and full of greenery.
I am sure if Coimbatore caters to everything, then definitely it could become one of the best and attractive hot spots in India with its rapid IT development.

  9. I am a businessman in coimbatore, the developments in coimbatore are mindblowing. Cotton city is changing into an Information Technology city.We have the best climate,Sweetest water, always maintain the ground water level. In next two years buying an asset in coimbatore will be a tough task.

    Moorthy

  10. I wouldsay one thing, coimbatore is having all the potential to grow. but our infrastructure is not upto the mark. if you see townhall, it is one of the main part in coimbatore.. but there is no proper control on traffic, no plan in EB lines (EB line’s are laid across the road which may disturb the high height transporting vehicles) there are all just an example.. so the government should take some action to improve the infrastructure. then the investments come easily.

  11. Hi
I recently heard a lot about CBE and I hope to get some update on those in this blog site since it seems to be more active than others.

How far is the conversion of Avinashi road to a six-lane road?

How far is Tidel park near medical college?

How about flyovers at Hope College?

What is the status of airport expansion? how about land acquisition? What are the areas that are affected?

I heard of twin software villages – Kalapatti and Saravanpatti. Is that true? Has it started?

I also heard that many other private IT parks are coming up?
What are the big ones that are worth mentioning?

Last but not least, Is the government -both central and state doing enough to let the city boom?

    Regards
    Suraj

  12. Everything O.K……..It seems to be the oldest once again……..
Happy to see the developments in COIMBATORE

But I thing MADURAI will have the better future than Coimbatore in the future as the conditions favouring MADURAI all the way.

The only aspect by which Coimbatore overtook MADURAI some years bask is by INDUSTRIALIZATION & Employment.

But at present condition – Though Madurai still has no good response from the manufacturig industries – It seems to be a IT Hub like Bangalore/Chennai in the near future.

NASSCOM identified Madurai as the 3rd best place in India to do the IT/ITes business and also they exposed that Over 40% of the IT employees working in the Bangalore/Chennai & Hyderabad IT Parks are from Madurai & Madurai – bounded districts.
At present Madurai is losing over 40,000 graduates every year migrating to other cities due to unemployment who’re all will return home & add strength to Madurai.

Already ELCOT is developing a 270 Acres IT SEZ with IT Gaints such as HCL, Satyam Computers , Sutherland Global services etc.,
TIDEL Park is also comingup in Madurai by ELCOT & TIDCO with some major players……

RR Industries who is going to be the base for the Madurai’s future growth is developing the TN’s biggest IT SEZ in over 800 Acres with major IT gaints such as Flextronics ltd., WIPRO etc.,

PEARLS IT city and Dhaya Cyber park are also coming up by private players.

For the decades – It is known as a Tourism Hub of TN
Recently acquired the place in Best MEDICARE HUB cities with APOLLO , MMRH ,VADAMALAYAN, ARVIND etc.,…In addition to the existing hospitals – RELIANCE is going to setup a corporate Hospital there….. Five more Corporate Hospitals from various big cities of India decided to setup their hospitals in Madurai.

Till now- It has only one medical college – But the Future plannings include 3 more medical colleges – each one by Kamaraj educational Trust , CSI Diocese of Madurai-Ramnad and APOLLO Hospitals……

A medical University like Ramachandra of chennai is also on the wings by Madurai-based VELAMMAL Educational Trust. Though It had done many things for chennai till last day – They had come forward to do a Bigthing for their home-city atlast.

A city next to Coimbatore is having a AIRLINES – Paramount Madurai based – they are having more plans for Madurai like Pilot training academy , MRO for Embarer aircrafts , New routes from Madurai and direct link to Mumbai,Bangalore etc.,…..
Though Coimbatore has better airtraffic than Madurai now – I am not sure the situation will remain for long time…..
Many more developments are queing for Madurai Airport including new Integrated Airport terminal , Runway expansion , Heli-Tourism , Airport Modernisation and expansion etc.,….

Already 6-7 Mage Townships including TN’s largest Residential Township RR Township in over 500 Acres , SAHARA township in 105 Acres , Metcalfe Township in 200 Acres , Maangalya Trith Township in 240 Acres by Chennai’s SPENCER PLAZA builders , PEARLS city Madurai Township , Aerens Township , AP Township etc., are having their land banks in addition to the real estate gaints Hiranandhini , Akahaya Homes, PARSN reals etc., planning their entry to madurai. – A Healthy Real Estate Boom had taken place now there.

Many Jewel biggies like ALUKKAS , JOYALUKKAS , BHIMA , TANISHQ etc., were already in its Bullion market. KALYAN , MALABAR , ALAPPAT , JOSCO , LALITHA jewellers , Khazana Jewllers etc planning their entry into its Bullion bazaar.

In textiles side -works on a mega Integrated Textile park had already started. POTHYS , THE CHENNAI SILKS etc confirmed their entry into MADURAI…..SARAVANA Selvarathnam decided to setup showroom in Madurai….

With manymore Hypermakets , Shopping malls , showrooms taking their shape in Madurai – The city has earned a new shopping hub – BYE PASS ROAD for which the TN Govt , NHAI and the Corporation is planning to make it like Chennai’s Mt.Road …

I may recognize the shopping in Madurai than in CBE because CBE lacks truly such Shopping Hub.

Roads going 4 & 6 lane around madurai , new roads like Ring roads , Radial roads , VIP Roads , Elevated Highways etc., are taking their shapes now in Madurai.

Also most of the workers working in various mills , industries etc., in CBE are from Southern time on whom I am not sure – will they live in CBE after the conditions are O.K in Madurai ?

According to me – I am related to both the CBE and Madurai by birth and I’ll be happy if both the cities develops …. By my guess & vision – MADURAI seems to have a bright future than CBE in near future…. Also I ‘ll not excite if Madurai overtook CBE in near days….

Anyway Longlive CBE & MDU – CBE corporation should see for avoiding the major drawbacks going to happen in future….It should find the ways to avoid its loss to Madurai now itself or otherwise MDU will show its potential….

    • varman :- madurai is not better than cbe, ur native is madurai i think thats y speaking like tis, go and learn abt cbe.
there is no chance to beat cbe, cbe rocks:)

    • sorry sir i can’t except Madurai is an better option your city lacks in manythings like in infrastructure, lifestyle culture is so traditional that IT employees will not like it….like in Bangalore,Chennai and Coimbatore lifestyle is modern but in Madurai it is too low…and it is violent city i have came to hear it….and Coimbatore has well shopping hubs than Madurai…….that to i don’t think it might develop also madurai…..due to many reasons…….Coimbatore has touched that tier-1 city level…….in India……

  13. Hi,

In future, Tamilnadu will place the biggest rank in IT Sector. That rank will come to depend on coimbatore and madurai cities development, because these two cities have more talentful man power and big infrastructure.

Coimbatore city have very nice climate and well planned infrastructure. It have the biggest integrated air terminal and rail lines.
This is the entrance for kerala state.
More colleges and famous university are here. Already it have more automative industries and spinning mills. Now it turn to IT CITY.

Madurai city have the widest road lines to surrounding. NHAI work to connect chennai to madurai, madurai to kanniyakumari, bangalore to madurai, madurai to kanniyakumari. Madurai is the main terminal of rest of tamilnadu. Next NHAI continued to work madurai to tuticorin, madurai to ramanathapuram.
(All road lines are make 6 track roads)
Madurai city have the biggest rails, connect to all places in india.
International air terminal comes to this city (after will complete expansion)
When complete NHAI work, madurai will connect to harbor(tuticorin).

Madurai and surrounding towns have most famous colleges and universities. Course finished students are migrate to bangalore, chennai and hydrabad.

Elcot will complete IT city work, madurai get big rank in IT WORLD. All these work completes, madurai will turn biggest one in india.

These two cities (madurai and coimbatore) are 2nd and 3rd big corporation cities in tamilnadu.

  14. Hi Varman,

Are the Madurai gilli (Mahendra Varman) of the skyscrapercity.com site? This page is for discussing the Developments happening in and around Coimbatore. Please don’t start the CBE – MDUcity comparisons here too.

  15. Dear Kad07,
Ya ! It’s me ! I am not degrading CBE in anyway ! If CBE-reans spoiling the SSC-Madurai is correct – My actions here is not at all wrong ! So-First Advice your CBE-friends not to make unconveniences in Madurai thread and then I’ll stop it in CBE threads

  16. Sounds good on paper. In spite of all, the city looks shit. Why cannot the road be done better and some discipline be exercised on the people on the road !!. IT parks are not an indicators of development.

  17. Hi Varman,

You may be the Madurai Brand Ambassador but don’t mess up our CBE sites with your MDU stuff. If you have any issues with my CBE friends in SSC site threads, argue positively and try to solve them in SSC itself.

  18. Dear Kad07,
I don’t know whether you’re a member of SSC thread but I should admit here that It’s my mistake for posting news on Madurai in CBE thread…..I am sorry and requesting you people to apologize me because I think that’s the friendly manner…..I don’t want to develop eneminess with anyone particularly CBE-eans because I am not an opposer of CBE Developments……..Cbe-eans played with words in SSC thread and degrading my birth city MADURAI that I couldn’t bear the emotions ….. With a blind angry – I did so …… So please apologize me……..I welcome posts from CBE-eans on Madurai SSC thread and other madurai threads but immitations or degradations are having certain limits that CBE-eans shouldn’t exceed ! Anyway…..Long live CBE ..!!! Let me get out of this site …..Thank you !

your listing is excellent and i am very happy to see the developments list belongs to madurai. and it’s catching up kovai.

As a kongu thamilan i would like to add some points in this chain for your kind overview.

I make you remember that whatever the facilities that you have been listed such as educational facilities, shopping malls, jewel shops, hosipitalities, Multi tier mega apartments, Real Estate Boom, Air traffic are well estabilished in coimbatore such a manner better than madurai even chennai for some areas.

Foreign investers doesn’t invest money for city infrastructure. Obiviously the would make double the money with in short period. they are here not for madurai infrasrtucture developments.

Have you ever compared your city with the following objects with numbers.

    1. Universities
    2.Deemed universities
    3.CMC
    4.PSG Group copanies
    5. Pollachi Mahalingam Group
    6. No. of Engineering Colleges
    7. Hospitals
    8. Air Traffic
    9. Shopping Malls
    10.Tourist spots in and around
    11. Climate
    12. People culture
    13. Peaceful life
    14. No. of Students coming ouy from the arts and engineering colleges
    15. Metriculation schools
    16. Road Faicility
    17. No. of IT/ITES/BPO companies in madurai and Kovai right now.
    18.Climate
    19.Political issues
    ..
    ..

    so and so buddy.

The Coimabtore railway kottam is merged with Erode now , and surely lot of developments going to be there in short time as the barrior is broken.

OK, what ever you have listed items are proposals may be dreams of the madurai development and not ongoing projects, hope you know the complexity of converting proposal into a project in IT. I don’t want to remind you thenaliraman stories to undestand the basic tricks.

The current real estate rocket-skying amount in all over TN belongs to politicians and their announcements, and it sure that it may turn down any time if party change over next couple of years.

Hope you belive that foregin investors are bit intelligent than you as they know that where to invest money , where they don’t get any political issues in future.

See the current trend….use your third eye….Speak with proof..don’t follow malai sudar, malai murasu corner page news..thats their business to promote.
I also give some money to people to write anything for my business.

I believe that i am not hurting you. If so, sorry about that.

    take care Bye
    Udhay

  20. cbe sucks . it has not developed and will never develope further . particularly the attitude of the peope would never let any change happen .. and the murder of Tamil language by the way they speak like whining ?? Singing …? I hate that accent and I never ever want to hear it again .. Real estate agents , brokers and middlemen are the only ones trumpeting this fallacy that cbe has developed .cheero

    • Just be silent ………….Coimbatore is rapidly develop……!!!!!!!!!

    • hmmm you going to see na which our cbe gng to rock, i think u r just visitor of this city thats why speaking like tis, whats ur username ha ur dad sucks 🙂

  21. Mr cbesucks,
You don’t have guts to write your name. Better gothro daily news and update your brain on regular basis. Look at todays Hindu frontline pages (http://www.hinduonnet.com/fline/stories/20080215250309300.htm), you will understand wheather it sucks or growth is happening…
We are here to discuss on the developments happening in our city and not to crap with useless statements like accents. The whole world knows cbe region’s friendly culture, hospitality, respecting thro their accents and hardwork. Thats why we are growing fast even there is 0% political support.
YOUR COMMENTS SHOWS YOU CANNOT TOLERATE THE GROWTH OF CBE.

  22. Mr cbesucks,

We are not bothering about stetements delivered by people like you. But this is not third class site to deliver wrong words. If this site owner would rise cyber crime complaint, and it doesn’t take more time to capture you using your International IP Address,

I sincerelly warn you to get rid off from the site instead of delivering useless talk, for your bright future also.

    Thanks.

    Udhay

  23. you would better shut the fuck up. Your making fun of the way coimbatoreans speak Tamil in itself suggests that you ve never heard any good tamil all ur life. Who the fuck r u to come to a conclusion that CBE will not develop? Watch ur words before u give such statements..U R A COWARD

  24. Hey
I think you are jealousy about coimbatore developments. You cant digest the developments of coimbatore. This may be a bitter fruit for you..
But definetely your home town may a stinking city in this world. Try to change your nick name adding your city name first.

  25. dear madurai friend,

i am happy to see the developments in madurai but u should not degrade a city like this. i am not from madurai or coimbatore but i watch the developments in both cities. feb issue of frontline clearly illustrates the power of cbe. the main plus of cbe is self development. there are no politicians to support cbe but still it has developed. it is due to the thirst for industrialisation of the people here.(eg. CODISSIA is the largest and most active of its kind in India)

both cities are in TN only and it will be good for TN if both develop. please have a positive attitude.

anyway… best wishes to both mdu and cbe.

  26. Hi Friends,
Most of you read the today’s dinamalar news about the kerala agents canvass to drag passengers from coimbatore to calicut and cochin. I feel it will be true. Those parasites will do anything for their own welfare.
We know about their behaviour in salem railway division, Intercity express, EGMORE-CBE express, westcoast express, navajeevan express, silkair operation to coimbatore..
I dont know when they stop playing with coimbatore. Coimbatore peoples must give a good leason then only they will realise

  27. Hi CBE Friends,

Why can’t you guys join in the SSC site and do some postings and have healthy discussions?( if you are not a SSC member already)

    http://www.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=543

  28. Hi All,
Madurai can try its best, Kerala can try its best. Coimbatore is an entrepreneur’s dream. Coimbatore is a tourist’s haven. Coimbatore is a businessman’s place of success.
It has one of the best climates on this planet which no one can change.
Coimbatore is Tamilnadu’s answer to the rest of the World.
For the person who says Coimbatore sucks, you can go get @%^&*#. Coimbatore does’nt want you to either come there or even listen to it’s Tamil. Stay in your filthy part of the State and sweat like a pig from the heat. We dont need pigs like you in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore has developed on its own while your town has had government support and is still not successfull.

  29. Hi Guys
This is Ram from Tirunelveli, Good to see that Coimbatore is doing Good in Business. I want you guys to develop Coimbatore as an alternative to Chennai , Like Pune(Alternative to Mumbai). Airport Expansion is facing lot of issues, Railway Expansion issues, New flyovers has to come, What these politicians are doing. All are giving support to chennai & Madurai. Good growth in aviation, Coimbatore airport handled more than 1.1 lac passenegers in Januaray. Develop the city in all the ways, all the best guys, If somebody from Madurai or Trichy is coming & spoiling this healtyhy discussion, give them some royal punches guys. See you soon

  30. I am a NRI, when I visited Coimbatore R.S.Puram DB road was going thru drainage improvements. I watched in dismay how in broad day light the contractors are cheating on the concrete mixture. Those drainage will not stand more than one or two years. We need honest local public oversee committees.
I also came to know that Siruthuli project could not make much progress due to local politicians.
I wish encroachments on waterways be removed and those dwellers are given decent alternative by the city.
I think i saw there was more garbage in the streets than my last visit in 2000.
Like in US, the developers should pay for added traffic and the raod improvements should be the Developers expense.
There should be a strict rule that any waste water from any property should not reach street flood water drains.
When I was growing up in Coimbatore in 1960s the city was clean and flowers on the road and no waste water stagnation along the streets. AND no mosquito problems!
The City water tasted like “amirtham”.
I hope someday you all will experience the good life I had in Coimbatore.

  31. Singapore-based Ascendas said Wednesday one of its private development funds will invest in a S$290 million development project in Coimbatore, India.

The 50-50 joint venture between Ascendas India Development Trust and IREO, another fund, will develop the 53-acre site over six to seven years, Ascendas said in a statement.

The project includes a special economic zone and other space for residential and commercial developments.

  32. dear youngsters, our great Mr.Adbul Kalam told that India future is in the hands of us. But here u ppl frm mdu or cbe or arguing each other will shows the results like the blasts happened in blre and ahmbd recently. IF THERE IS NO UNITY BETWEEN US THEN INDIA WILL NEVER REACH ITS DESTINATION EVENTHOUGH IN 2100

  33. Coimbatore, no doubt, is fast growing. Let few pakkis talk bad about the city, never mind. Few cranky guys, for cheap publicity, always dispute the truth. What to do? when we live with animals, and poisonous creatures, we should live with such elements.

In cbe, big real estate giants have now projects. Sahara, DLF, Sobha, Purvankaras, propmart, L&T, like majors are in the city.
A small suggession: there shouldbe a forum promotes and markets the city as an admirable. Like, how Dubai was promoted, how Bangalore was promoted.
Can we think in those terms?
    Barathi. Amar.

  34. Though there are many proposals, the local authorities are not very serious about the developmants under JNNURM. Many states have already implemented; but Coimbatore lacks in even preparing the projects. By this tjie, they should have subkitted and obtained funds; but they re delayed for reasons unknown. At this rate, they are likely to forfeit the grant under JNNURM and all works would be stand still.

  35. Hi all,
Very interesting to see the developments of Coimbatore. A truly self grown city, unlike Madurai. However, I wish to comment on Mr Udayamurthies data on the comparison of the following with other cities in TN.

Good ones in madurai as well
    16. Road Faicility
Agreed, Coimbatore has better ones than madurai.

    18.Climate
    Commented
    19.Political issues
    Madurai has many POLITICAL issues.

  36. Hi all,

  38. Hi!!!
I am Ramesh,M.Sc final year student from COIMBATORE.

what about vehicle trafic ? and car parking . Coimbatore Corporation must take care about this matter and also Drainage problem.

Coimbatore -Irugur doubling work is also too late.

    My suggestion to improve COIMBATORE.
    To clear shops in platform.
To provide bus shelter in ALL BUS STOP.
To maintain clean & healthy in ALL PLACES.

To form a YOUTH CLUB for DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES.
    I am interested…………..REPLY my mail:

  39. I had been following the discussions in this site on Coimbatore. While the critcisms should be welcome, those with negative sentiments shall be discouraged. While it is natural to have an affinity towards cities where we are born or brought up, we all have to come out of the narrow circles of ones own cities. The nation’s all- round development is important for the improvement of living standardd of all of us and for that to happen all the cities in India should develop and all are free to adopt the city they like irrespective of language or region. Even though the city of Mumbai is having lot of problems due to over development or overpopulation, all those who are settled there for more time claim they are mumbaites irrespective of the states they originally hail from.

The fact is that with so much advertised developments coming in our cities, we are far behind when compared with cities in foreign countries.(Please do not compare undeveloped – look ahead).

It is good that developments are taking place in Coimbatore and Madurai. But all are very slow and lacking in perfection. Unless the quality is improved we will be lagging behind the Cities elsewhere and will find solace comparing with our nearby cities.

We coimbatoreans shall be a tredsetter in welcoming constructive criticisms on the planned developments and the situation in Coimbatore and so also in other cities.
    Regards,

  40. Nothing could equal Kovais climate,
living conditions, people, water, enterprunial sprit of kovai, even chennai can’t match kovai.

What We lack is political will and good politician to develope Kovai,if proper attention paid,Kovai will be a world class city

  41. but there is no traffic maintanence in Ukkadam&Big Bazzar st….

  42. coimbtore has not been developed, according to it environment goverment should take care and implement some development technique, our tamilnadu goverment are taking a care about only a chennai, basically cbe is a textile city but nowadays textile mills are not providing a wealth to this city some of the mills are already closed here people of cbe are searching a job from neighouring city like tirupur, only tirupur contribuating a no of job opprtunities to the covai people, some of them are getting a job from banglore or chennai.most of them are not getting a job in coimbtore, becoz of factories are not situated and also don’t have a number of factory’s and infrastructure are not contribuating well in our city, such abroad company going across chennai,it is not suitable for delivering any occupation,so gov’t should take care about our coimbtore city they should provide some flexible to our covai people only educational instituation providing huge wealth here ,that’s why so many student’s coming from different states in coimbtore having a proper environment what indusrtlist expecting here, but they are refusing to start the concern here, before the partion of tirupur coimbtore was become a developed city, after the partion of tirupur, coimbtore has been developing city ,so we did’n’t attain our goal, most of the mill’s are goes to andhrapradesh,we should not belive only a mills all the time, instead of we can set up a IT company&no of factories around a city, if we do this environment we wil get some solution instead of one work.we want to change a coimbtore become a international city.

  43. will you display this web site

  44. hi guys
being a trichy based guy , its funny to see the debate between cbe nd mdu guys.
but from my point of view both the cities are developing in a good way…
but in the case of covai its purely a self sustaining city witout any considerable alms from govt .
but the fact u have to note down that the initial city population mainly comprises gowndars and naidus who were not tamilians by race ., they are the immigrants of the city but hats off to them ,
becoz they laid the path for the industrialisation in the area,
though madurai is one of the important cities of the state , it hasn’t boomed in any good development but unlike cbe it has good political support .
    ..
if covai gets some fine politician who can change the city a well planned one , really it’ll be rocking news
moreover the state govt should not sting to CHENNAI alone ….
u guys know that cbe is the highest revenue paying region of the state but all those money are laid as flyovers and constructions in and around the state capital…
its not correct to do so
however the entry of the IT industries to both the cities of cbe and mdu will start a thrilling race between them
whoever administration has a good future as well as master plan for sustainable development , will rock in this new decade of 2011 to 20. . .
Any how , because of the world classical tamil meet which is to be held in the city is bringing some change in the city but who knows it may be a masking factor . . .
coimbatore is the list of upcoming cities of india , still the city has to be grown and should reach a place of major city in the nation …
good luck covai and madurai as well…

    • Hi Vinoth,
where did you study history to find that the Kongu Vellala Goundars are not Tamilians?
Pls let me know some references.
I hope you are not one of those so-called modern guys who does not like to speak tamil and does not even study history of TN.Pls search some books or google to find the history of kongu mandalam so that you can become more knowledgeable about the history of Covai and who are the sons of the soil.
      have a good day!

  45. Hi All,

I was very happy to read the first page…when i completed the rest, i am very sad and i felt bad that i visited this site.Guys first we are Indians and then tamilians.why you guys are fighting as if you are from pakistan. The developmet is happening in india and in TN you guys should be happy.

When you people are fighting like this how you are going to develop your city, state and cuntry…as far as your mentality is like this india will never develop.

  46. Hi everybody .In future MADURAI
will be the best city next to CHENNAI.There r many RESEDENTIAL projects,IT projects,SHOPPING MALLS ,BPO r under construction in MDU.They will be shortly opened.cbe may have 5 or 6 IT projects MADURAI has more than 20 IT projects which r under construction and will be soonly opened .RESEDENTIAL projects like SATHYA ELITE,GRACITE INFRASTRUCTURES,HIRANANDHINI,GREEN WILD(which is 25 stories building),DUBAI based ETA-STAR company is constructing a LUXURY apartment namely SITARA.It is the 3rd resedential project under taken by ETA STAR COMPANY next tn BANGLORE AND CHENNAI.PEARLS INFRACTURE IS CONSTRUCTING the largest township in TN known as PEARLS CITY in Madurai .in next 2 r 3 years MDU will hav a INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT .It will be the 2nd international airport next to CHENNAI.If IT parks r opened in MDU ,it’ll swallow CHENNAI ,even BANGLORE.B’coz MDU is the 2nd largest and biggest CORPORATION in TAMILNADU.
Electrification (RAILWAY) upto MDU-trichy has done.It will be opened in 2 r 3 weeks. So many FLY OVERS r under construction in MDU .ELEVATED FLY OVERS r also under construction and many MULTIPLE FLYOVERS r proposed for MADURAI.So many HI-FI SHOPPING CUM MALLS r at the final stage which will be shortly opened.
MADURAI will be a METROPOLITAN CITY by the end 2011.

    By SIVA ,APRIL 21st,2010.

  47. Hi,
i noticed that some are sharing their views nicely and some are very very narrow minded. It is not healthy and matured enough to downgrade one city for the purpose of boosting the other!
One guy, went on even to state that gounders of Coimbatore are not tamilans! It shows how ingnorant these guys are.If Kongu vellalar are not the sons of the soil , this guy should explain the criteria for a qualified tamilian. He seems to be ignorant of history of KONGU MANDALAM.
It is better to collect all facts of current status of the cities and discuss objectively.
Let all cities of TN flourish and vazhka valamudan!
    kongan

  48. I think Coimbatore will overtake all cities. Why is Madurai poking its dirty nose in Coimbatore affairs. Nobody wants your hot dirty city. I remember reading Silapathikaram and it is mentioned that Madurai will never develop. Even Tiruchi is overtaking Madurai.

  49. We in coimbatore are lucky ,good people, tasty water, good climate etc. we have waited for the govt to look at us and now govt is spending so much in developments for coimbatore. We in return will surely pay the rewards to them. tidel park will be ready in few months, scheme road for coimbatore to mettupalayam, record braking developments and new broad link roads in and around coimbatore, new parks in city, first class airport extension. We people in return will give the 100 % in developments in textiles, Engmeering, foundry, Real estate and construction, agriculture, and all sources of business to the government . coimbatore will be next to chennai in all aspects and support our tamilnadu govt in all ways.

  50. At present, I am in Chennai. But my native is cbe and i always come to Coimbatore once in 3 months. Only few developments have been made there. When I see the Mettupalayam rd, my heart will be in pain to see that rd. Because there were no developments in that road for past many years. Still the road is in worst condition. But here in chennai, mostly there r rubber roads with big space. Also double side rd With advanced street lights(Mount Rd, Beach Rd etc…) and also so many advanced flyovers with excellent road and street lights. So, Government have to take steps to improve our city(COIMBATORE). Please take actions.

  51. Hi CBE’s ,
Let us forget those BACKBURNERS, which they are thinking in dreams of their cities that happened in our “Great Coimbatore”. Ya The TIDEL PARK of COIMBATORE, i am so happy when i heard that inauguration of CBE’s Tidel and Also Bigger than Chennai’s, like Chennai’s Tidel 1.2 Million Sq feet , Coimbatore’s Tidel 1.7 Million Sq Feet and some other aspects like these, But I like Chennai’s Tidel by lookwise.

And backburners are telling that, like these kind of IT parks are lot in Velachery, ya im accepting that but those tech parks are came after The Chennai’s Tidel Arrival. So Im sure that Here (CBE) also that will happen very soonly. Because gaints like Wipro, TCS, HCL, R.Bosch, Perot, CTS, Ford. etc were started their arena’s construction.
Here I’m telling that Coimbatore is only one city having comparison status with our Capital. And also alternative for Chennai, like Pune alternative for Mumbai.

  52. hi coimbatorians,
my hummble request for all is pls dont disgrade our city by comparing the city like madurai, even after 100years the madurai culture is not going to develop, and i feel sad for those who is going to workfor mddurai(if it happens) in future.and i like to ask one question how many coimbatore pepole are working in madurai or studying in madurai and how many madurai fellows are working in cbe and tirupur.can you just imagine to compare.this shows which city has the better environmental conditions.if all the crazy developments that r mentioned above are made where the goes for water(there is heavy water scarcity even now as not a single people of t.n will willing to go to madurai ichallange because of their wepon culture.sadly they have no ocean to change salt water into drinking water.and coimbatore is acity that has developed because of their own peoples.forex
    LAKSHMI MACHINE WORKS

    ELGI
    CRI PUMPS
    TEXMO
    AQUA SUB
    ANNAIMALAIS
    G.DEE
    VEE JAY
    SUGUNA
all are cbe based companies that are started before two decades and we dont need or have to beg for any mncs for the development of the city.even CHEENAI doesnt have this much native owners.i missed texlile industries.the only advantage for chennai is the horbour.that makes easy for goods carriage, that is why the major auto companys are located there.and also because of politicians.
    and last thing for all
    you come hear for EDUCATION
    YOU COME HEAR FOR JOB
    YOU BUY PROPERTY HERE
YOU SETTELED HERE FOR REST OF UR LIFE
SAFELY BUT YOU WONT ACCEPT which is the better city.

  53. now coimbatore seem to be 4 th biggest city in south india. and 2nd in tamilnadu.

  54. madurai sucks

coimbatore will be overtake chennai. it has several busstands and well connect to the all tamil nadu areas.

  55. Never try to compare madurai and cbe.If factories in our neighbouring city tirupur close for a month, then where will you madurai idiots go? We give you jobs,we pay for your lives..shut up maduraiites..never mess up cbe, wait for another five years ,tirupur’ll be overtaking madurai to become the third largest city in tn.cbe tup erd rock

  56. All cities growing depends on the available source cbe & mdu growing different way. But one thing is cbe is fast growing then mdu. Due to climate,IT,Education & factory’s and settling the people from all over india .
Mdu also have tourism,Agri, shopping, so both cities have good potential to grow

    • thats true i agree wit that.

cbe is well known for its fast development in industry over years..
thats the reason why it is too growing fast..
madurai is knows for tourism and spritual.. i love both cities..

  57. developments of coimbatore:

our city airport becoming international airport every works were finished.

4 IT parks with with 3.5 lakh sqft area have already been completed.
3 more IT parks at 3.25 lakh sq.ft area are under construction.
10 more are proposed with 9.25 Lakh Sq. Ft
The KG group has acquired 160 acres near its existing campus on Thudiyalur road (near Saravanampatti) for developing it as ITES and BPO Special Economic Zone.
ELCOT has identified 109 acres in the Bharathiar University campus itself for the proposed BU-ELCOT city.
Two Malls with 2.5 Lakh Sq. Ft area and Six more on pipeline with 4.2 lakh Sq. Ft.
Two major townships — Sahara Township and Metro Corp Monte Visa are coming up.
More than 20 major residential units, totally with 3,000 apartments, are expected to get completed in the next three years.

  58. can any one explain the current status of infrastructure development of coimbatore…… is it rising or sticking as past?..

  59. right no what i like to say is..

cbe lost its climate due loosing many trees..
we should try to bring back its climate atleast planting one tree in every home..
i cant see the trees cutted on ooty main road.. it made me much worried because we may lose our climate in our future..

  60. The govt has not done a thing to improve coimbatore all its development projects are chennai centric they should change this mindset

  61. hi i am from dubai the govt has not seriously shown any plans to improve covai but still covai is booming in it own . As a financial city it has the potential more than chennai and banglore where politicians played a major role in non development . If you compare with dubai covai has the better infrastcutre in than dubai as you airways, road and railways even not availbale in dubai.Road people says dubai roads the practiallity is no rain in dubai oneday all will go down. Coimbatore has to mainly concentrate on investment climate and select the right politican with good fire power for it s city to see the best development in future

  62. need to see my city a well devoloped…best regags by a true coimbatorian……..

  67. Hi Friends,

Firstly am not a member of any forum but i read the discussion in forums regularly

I would like to add a point!

Yes am from Madurai as it is my native and yes i do support for future up comings in madurai but won’t degrade coimbatore. But here we are fighting for future and current developments in madurai & coimbatore will leave that. first naama Tamilan!! adhuku aporum dhan elamey so support for both cities equally as gain as much as newer ones rather than going it to chennai!

    Regards,
    Aravindan
